Roofing Services for Your Home and Business

Houses take up most of our schedule: roof repair when a few shingles or a flashing detail gives way, roof replacement when the whole system is worn out, and roof inspections when you just want an honest read on its condition. After hail or strong wind we take on storm damage repair, and we install and repair gutters so water runs off the roof properly. For local business owners we also do commercial roof replacement and commercial roof repair. You'll find a separate page for every one of these, with more on how each job runs.

    Roof Repair

Leaks, lifted shingles and failed flashing traced to the source and repaired with materials that match the rest of your roof.

  • Roof Inspections

A careful look at your shingles, flashing, vents and decking, with photos and a plain written summary of what needs attention and what can wait.

  • Storm Damage Repair

After hail or high wind, we check your roof, photograph what the storm did and repair it properly, with plain answers about insurance along the way.

  • Gutters

New gutters, downspouts and repairs that are measured to your roofline, hung on solid fascia and set to move water away from your foundation.

  • Commercial Roof Replacement

New low-slope and metal roofs for shops, offices and small commercial buildings, with drainage corrected and work scheduled so your doors stay open.

  • Commercial Roof Repair

Leak tracing and repairs for flat and low-slope business roofs, including membrane seams, flashing, drains and metal panels, with photos and a written scope.

What Shapes the Price of a Roof

Houses that look alike from the street can need very different roofs. The total depends on what goes on top, what turns up underneath and how easy the roof is to reach and work on. We go over each of these with you before any figure is written down.

We see the roof in person and break the estimate into separate lines, so each part has its own cost and you can ask about any of it by phone.

Roof area and steepness
More square footage means more shingles, more underlayment and more crew hours. A steep pitch adds fall protection and slower footing, so every course takes longer to lay.
Material choice
A standard architectural shingle, an impact-rated shingle and a metal panel are priced differently and take hail in different ways. The impact-rated option costs more up front, and some insurers credit it on your premium.
Decking and layers underneath
It's common to find two old layers of shingles or plywood gone soft from a slow leak. Extra tear-off and new decking are real costs, so you see photos before either is added.
Flashing, vents and penetrations
Chimneys, skylights, valleys and plumbing vents each need their own flashing work. A plain gable roof has few of these; one with dormers and several chimneys has many.
Access and site conditions
Narrow driveways, big trees, fences and planted beds change where materials can sit and how debris leaves the property.
Permits and gutters
When the city requires a permit, its fee belongs to the job. Swapping out or adjusting gutters during the same visit can move the total as well.

A Roofing Company Built on Doing Right by People Nearby

Guthrie Roofing is a local outfit. The people you talk to on the phone are the people who think about your roof, and the crew that shows up is the one that cares how it turns out. We keep our work close to home, so the houses we roof are the ones we drive past on the way to the store.

We are calm about roofs because we see them every day. Spring hail, summer heat that bakes shingles brittle and the occasional winter ice all take a toll, and most of it can be handled with a clear plan instead of pressure. We would rather explain the difference between a worn roof and a damaged one than sell you something you don't need.

If you want to know more about how we started and how we work, the About page has the longer version.

How a Roof Job Runs With Us

Nearly every job moves through the same handful of stages. Knowing them in advance makes the work days calmer for you.

  1. 1

    Start with a phone call

Let us know what caught your eye, maybe a ceiling stain, granules collecting in the gutters or shingles missing after high wind. Then we agree on a day to visit the roof.

  2. 2

    A careful look and photos

We climb the roof and check the attic when it's reachable. You receive pictures of our findings and a plain view on whether repair or replacement is the better choice.

  3. 3

An itemized estimate and a date

The estimate covers materials, tear-off, a decking allowance, flashing and permits. When you're ready, we choose a start date and tell you if weather pushes it.

  4. 4

    Work days and cleanup

Plants get covered, siding gets protected and we work in sections so your home is never open overnight. Each evening the yard is swept and the magnet makes its pass.

  5. 5

    A final walk-through

We review the finished roof together, show you what was replaced and answer remaining questions before we consider the job complete.

Why Neighbors Ask Us Back

A roof is a purchase few people make more than a couple of times. We treat each one as if our own family lived under it, and that shows up in small, practical habits.

Experience that reads the whole roof

Our crew brings over 20 years of combined roofing experience. That time on roofs teaches you to look past the ceiling stain to the cracked pipe boot, the short nail line or the soft decking behind it.

Workmanship we stand behind

Our installation work comes with a lifetime workmanship warranty. Doing it right the first time is easier on you, and on us, than coming back to fix a shortcut.

An honest call on repair

If your roof still has real life in it, we'll say so and price the repair. If a patch would only buy a season, we show you photos of what we found, explain why and leave the decision with you.

Your yard treated like ours

Tarps go over beds and shrubs before the first shingle comes off. At the end of each day a magnet crosses the lawn and driveway so nails stay out of tires and bare feet.

Finish you can see from the street

Straight courses, clean valleys, ridge caps that line up and drip edge that sits tight. The details that help a roof last are usually the ones that make it look right.

Questions Homeowners Ask Us

Can my roof be fixed, or is it time for a new one?

We look at three things: how old the roof is, whether the wear is in one spot or everywhere, and how solid the decking feels underfoot. One cracked pipe boot or a few lifted shingles is a repair. Brittle shingles, bare patches with the granules gone and soft decking in several places usually point to replacement. You get photos either way, so you see what we see.

Hail hit my roof. Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?

Plenty of people have a roofer look first, so they know whether the damage is real before they file. We can inspect the roof, photograph what we find and show you how a hail bruise differs from normal aging. The adjuster decides coverage; we help you follow the steps and understand the repair scope.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Once work begins, most homes are done in one to three days, depending on size, pitch and how much decking has to be replaced. Weather can push a start date, and we tell you as soon as it does. We never leave a section of the roof open overnight.

Do you handle permits?

Yes. Where the city requires a roofing permit, we pull it and schedule any inspection. The fee shows up as its own line on your estimate.

Will my yard and driveway be a mess?

Beds and shrubs go under tarps, and the dumpster or trailer is placed where it does the least harm. We clean up every day, and a magnetic sweeper runs over the lawn, driveway and walks before we head out.

Should I replace my gutters when I get a new roof?

Not always. Sound gutters that are pitched right and fastened well can come down and be rehung along the new drip edge. If they sag, leak at the seams or pull off the fascia, handling them during the roof job saves a second setup. We'll tell you which case you're in.

Is your work covered by a warranty?

Yes. Our installation work carries a lifetime workmanship warranty. We'll walk you through what it covers on the phone or at your estimate visit.

Do you work on commercial buildings too?

We do. Commercial roof replacement and commercial roof repair are part of our work for local business owners, and each has its own page on how those projects run.

Ready When Your Roof Needs a Second Opinion
